What Happens at Your First Visit to the Chiropractor?
If you’ve decided to visit a chiropractor for the first time, there is a good chance you have any questions about what to expect. Chiropractors use many different techniques to address issues like chronic back pain, but your first visit is usually dedicated to diagnostics and making a treatment plan. Here is what you can expect from your first visit to your chiropractor serving Corona.
Consultation
Your consultation is one of the most important parts of your first chiropractor appointment. During the consultation, your chiropractor will ask questions about your medical history as well as the symptoms you’re currently having. He or she will use this information to determine what could be causing your pain and what treatments could be both safe and effective for you. Be sure to address all of your complaints with your chiropractor during this consultation so he or she can develop the most effective treatment plan for you.
Exam and Diagnostic Testing
After taking your medical history, your chiropractor will perform an exam that will include things like blood pressure, respiration rate, pulse, and reflexes. He or she will also test your range of motion, muscle tone and strength, and neurological integrity. Depending on your symptoms and the findings of the chiropractor exam, you may also have an X-ray or may be referred for an MRI or other imaging tests.
Treatment Plan
Once your chiropractor is confident in his or her diagnosis of the cause of your symptoms, then the next step is to create a treatment plan. Your treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, strength-building and stretching exercises to boost muscle coordination, and various modalities designed to address soft tissue injuries. Your chiropractor will also provide you with information on things you can do to improve your posture and control anxiety that can contribute to pain.
